Lisa McDermott
Lisa McDermott joins Verdian as a non-executive director, bringing a distinguished track record in structured finance and renewable energy. She is currently Managing Director at ABN AMRO Bank in Amsterdam, where she leads the Energy Transition section as part of Project Finance, structuring and managing debt investments in renewable energy and sustainable technologies.
With extensive experience in renewable energy technologies, business models and financial structures, McDermott has played a key role in developing innovative solutions that have driven growth and sustainability in the European energy sector. Since 2013, she has been central to ABN AMRO's financing strategy for offshore and onshore wind, solar, storage, green hydrogen and industrial decarbonization projects, opening new opportunities in emerging regions and promoting structures adapted to the evolving energy market.
Her appointment strengthens Verdian's position as an independent power producer (IPP), providing solid financial and strategic oversight to investors and banking institutions and enhancing the company's governance and sustainability framework.
In addition to her role at ABN AMRO, McDermott has served as a non-executive director at climate technology company Cleanwatts and at Climate Transition Capital Acquisition 1, an investment fund focused on decarbonizing key sectors. She has also held senior positions at Intertrust Netherlands, Nomura International, and WestLB AG and began her career as a lawyer at Clifford Chance LLP.
Since 2021, McDermott has been a member of the advisory board of OffshoreWind4Kids, an initiative aimed at inspiring younger generations to pursue careers in engineering and renewable energy. She also actively participates in professional networks such as Women in Green Hydrogen and Women in Renewable Energy.
Academically, she holds a degree in Law and French from Queen's University Belfast, a postgraduate diploma in legal practice from BPP Law School (Nottingham) and an advanced diploma in business administration for non-executive directors.
