Costas Papamantellos, Global Head of Clean Energy Investments, Nuveen Infrastructure

Costas has served as a Managing Director and Global Head of Clean Energy Investments since June 2026, having joined Nuveen Infrastructure as Head of Energy Transition Investments in the fall of 2025. In his current role, Costas leads the global investment teams for Nuveen’s clean energy infrastructure equity funds.

Prior to joining Nuveen, Costas spent 17 years with RWE, a leading European and global energy company, most recently serving as Managing Director & Head of RWE’s Energy Transition Investments captive fund.  In this role, he led the investment platform since 2017 with teams based in London and New York City. Under his leadership, the investment vehicle deployed capital across Europe and North America in renewables development platforms, distributed power generation, onshore wind repowering, energy storage solutions, and biomethane. Since 2021, Costas also served as CEO of an RWE Joint Venture developing 1.5 GW solar PV projects (Meton Energy), including one of the largest solar pv projects in Europe (940 MWp).​

With close to 20 years of experience in the energy sector, Costas has devised and implemented investment strategies across the entire clean energy spectrum. Prior to RWE, he worked at The Boston Consulting Group.​

He holds both a Doctor of Philosophy (Dr.-Ing.) and Master of Science (Dipl.-Ing.) in Engineering from RWTH Aachen University in Germany.
